Success stories

Need Support?

We’ve had the pleasure of helping many families in the local area since we started, and we’re proud to share some of our success stories below.

Sarah Brown from Ipswich Family Bank Appears on Local Radio

It was great for one of our team, Sarah Brown, to appear on local radio recently, giving an interview about the people we help, the story of Ipswich Family Bank, and our many partners, including Morrisons, Asda, Whitehouse Baptist Church, Mags from The Meeting Place, and others.

Tetra, Family Bank Volunteer

I wouldn’t be where I am today without the support of the Ipswich Family Bank. I reached out to them during lockdown in 2020 because I’d just had my second baby and was after a bath seat but couldn’t afford one.

When I met Michelle and the team, I realised how in need of their help I was, and it was such a relief to receive their support. My baby was 5 months old and, along with the bath seat I’d originally reached out for, they sent me home that day with a weaning pack, baby clothes and nappies -- everything I needed to get me through that chapter of motherhood.

The Ipswich Family Bank became a safe place for me to ask for help when I needed it. I received regular help from them and always had in mind that I’d like to give back in some way when I was back on my feet. When my baby turned 2, I started volunteering with them and I’ve been working with them regularly now for the last 3 years. Their support felt lovely when I was in need, and now I love being part of the wonderful team that helped me all those years ago.

I first came to Ipswich Family Food Bank during one of the hardest moments of my life. Asking for help wasn’t easy, but from the very beginning I was treated with kindness, dignity, and compassion. The volunteers never made me feel ashamed—in fact, their warmth and gentle words always reminded me that asking for help is nothing to feel bad about.

The food bank has been a lifeline for me and my children. Thanks to their support, I was able to put food and snacks on the table, and they also provided clothes and toys for my children—not only at Christmas but at other times throughout the year, which meant so much to us. Beyond food, they also offered hygiene products and household essentials that made a huge difference in our daily life. They supported me with vouchers at times when I didn’t know how I would manage, and each visit I was welcomed with warmth and care.

Most importantly, Ipswich Family Food Bank has been a continuous support. Having them by my side has put me at ease, knowing I don’t have to face these challenges alone. They gave me someone to rely on and reminded me that me and my children will make it through. The joy on my children’s faces when they had what they needed, and the relief I felt knowing we weren’t alone, are things I will never forget.

I will always be humbled and deeply grateful for the support, kindness, and encouragement I have received. Ipswich Family Food Bank has truly been a blessing to me and my children, and I would encourage anyone in need not to be afraid to reach out. You will be met with the same kindness and care that gave me hope in my hardest times.
